Why did Rose start doing what she does?
You know the old saying, “Necessity is the mother of invention”? Rose had a mother who loved to bake—but not cook. So Rose and her 5 siblings took up the slack. And they became pretty darn good at it. Fast forward to her college years: Rose earned her BA in Theatre at Southern Illinois University/Carbondale. And her MFA in Theatre Design/Costume at the U. of Michigan. Hey. We know what you’re thinking: What does theatre have to do with food? Well, look at it this way: Creativity. Art. Design. Showmanship. Presentation. Production. Communication. Coordination. Collaboration. All talents and skills that transfer to food styling. Which is why Rose is comfortable wherever she cooks. A photographer’s studio. A TV set. Or in live cooking demonstrations. It’s Food as Art and Art as Food. And it’s Rose as Impresario—all the way.
